Everything's Coming Up Rose Gold

Sorry if I just planted the sound of Ethel Merman's voice in your head indefinitely, I just think of that song for some reason everytime I hear rose gold! It really does feel like rose gold is popping up everywhere this season. I've been craving rose gold jewelry ever since Chloe + Isabel released the Jen Atkin hair accessory collection.

Finally, not only has it arrived in catalog and in my boutique, I now have it in my possession! I have so many new goodies to show you in a variety of metals, just in time for holiday shopping.

First thing to hit my shopping cart was this gorgeous Petits Bijoux Hexagon Pendant Necklace. It's so delicate and lightweight. If you are shopping for a friend, sister or secret Santa for stocking stuffers or an easy to travel with gift, this one is just perfect. I feel like rose gold is a good choice for someone who always wears silver, or always wears gold. It's neither here nor there, something to add variety and modernize their wardrobe without pushing them too far out of their comfort zone.

The matching earrings are nothing short of amazing, too. I completely forgot they were convertible until I saw a friend wearing them without the hexagon "jacket", for lack of a better term. Convertible earrings are one of my favorite conversation starters when I'm talking about my small business. You can wear the earrings 2 ways, more bang for your buck.

I picked another pair of convertibles from the new collection, the La Vie en Rose Convertible Ear Climbers. The silver version of these is constantly on back order (a rarity) due to overwhelming demand. This would make a great gift for the modern maven in your life, a stylish friend who's always on point.

The "Isabel" in me (classic, timeless style) couldn't resist this next elegant piece. And truly, my ring collection was lacking. The Petits Bijoux Stackable Rings were an obvious choice. They had me at "vintage inspired setting". And the rose gold, when it captures the light, is so stunning.

I've taken a few pictures here of the rose gold next to the shiny gold for comparison. These are also available in shiny rhodium (silver).

I've jealously been watching the other merchies with all 3 sets mixing and matching them altogether. What do you think? Who needs silver, right?

I can't stay jealous long, I have so many other pretty things to wear. I'm particularly excited about my Petit Bijoux Leaf Pendant Necklace. It's 12k gold plated, dainty and going to get a lot of wear.

I'm all about transparency. Honestly I picked the leaf necklace to have on hand to show brides looking for fall wedding gifts and accessories. I pictured it on flower girls or mother of the bride, or hanging on "Will You Be My Bridesmaid" greeting cards (we have gorgeous, downloadable templates). But when I put it on to take pictures, I forgot to take it off and it caught my eye walking by a mirror. There's something just perfect about it. It's so easy to wear and versatile. It's official, I'm sold!

Of course, I got the matching earrings to go with it. If you are looking for a new pair of gold studs for the change of seasons, you need these delicate leaf earrings.

Last, I received the Petits Bijoux Daisy Stud Earrings and La Vie en Rose Collar Necklace as merchandiser incentives for July.

All the ladies are styling their daisy studs with the leaf earrings, and again this is another piece I can see modern brides loving for their special day. This collection is the perfect accompaniment to rose quartz (blush), the pantone color of the year for 2016.

I truly saved the best for last this time around!
.

The collar necklace, be still my heart! It's so sparkly and elegant! I just had a brilliant thought, I want to try it with a bold, red, fit and flare dress I acquired from my growing-too-fast daughter. I have some many pretty fall sweaters and tops in mind, too.

I love this necklace so much, I ordered the matching bracelet to complete the look.

I love how the light hits it. I know what I'm wearing Sunday! I'll smell yummy, too, wearing my new C+I parfum (Jardins du Midi).

My friends are really going to think they are looking at everything through rose colored glasses!

As always, the jewelry is all hypoallergenic, nickel free and back by our lifetime guarantee. I'd love it if you visited my shop. You can do so by clicking on any of the links or pictures above, or visiting http://modernjewelry.co

Dailylook Elite Box Review April 2015

When I heard about the Dailylook Elite Box 3 month free trial membership, I was really excited to try something new. So I headed over and started to create a style profile. If I didn't know better, I'd say they stole the profile straight from Stitch Fix. Anyhow, when I was finished and had scheduled a date for my first box, I wandered around the site and added items to "my closet." This is a fun place on the site to create a collection of things you like.

I was a little worried about what I'd get for a few different reasons. #1 The prices on this site are a lot higher than I wanted to pay. #2 A majority of the clothing on the site is out of my comfort zone. But isn't that what subscription box shopping is really all about? Trying new things and having some fun. And in this case, for free.

Well, the first box was a bust. So much so that I couldn't get decent pictures to share with you. Just picture me wearing a trash bag or an old sheet I tried to sew into a dress.

In fact, I was so mad about how boring, cheap & unthoughtful my first styling experience was that I left some pretty critical feedback. Fortunately, Dailylook hooked me up with a new stylist. My only request was that they add items from "my closet" and give me more color.

I loved the question they posed to me when I contacted customer service. "Are you willing to pay a little more money for a better box?" So honest, it really made me think. I had stated the first time that money was my biggest concern and as a result I got some really cheap, ugly stuff. Would I pay more for something I might actually love? Definitely.

So this is what came in box #2

I immediately took it all out of the plastic and stacked it up nicely. OCD?

I was happy to see a little color! So of course, I tried the dress on first.
Please disregard my facial expression, I'm such a weirdo.

I loved the print right out of the box. The blue is bright and perfect for spring. It has a fun little zipper all the way from the top to the bottom.I normally want to run and grab tights immediately, but for some reason the length of this dress didn't bother me. But, it just didn't fit up top. This would be perfect on someone with a nice hourglass figure and I'm obviously a pear. It was a steal at $43, wish it worked.

The next thing I tried on was the striped skirt and black blouse.

I was really on the fence about this Naked Zebra top dailylook calls the Rowley Layered Cuff Blouse. It fit and I loved the way it looked on a hanger. But I'm not sure about the cut on me. It does seem like a great staple to wear with skirts. I'm thinking about trying it in another color, and a smaller size just to see if it fits better. I really do love the little details on it, including a small pleat on the front, cuffed sleeves and a zipper on the back.

I was happy to try something in this brand (I've seen it on Golden Tote) and probably would have spent the $50 had I been 100% on the fit.

This is The Fifth Label Roadhouse Skirt in Black and White Stripe.
Love the crossover on the back.

I might have kept it, but it was tight and for $66 it better fit like a glove.

I was most hopeful about this Pleated A-line Midi Dress, I've heard a lot of good things about it from other Elite Box subscribers.

Like the skirt, I wish this dress had a zipper. They were both a little bodycon for me,
and I had a really hard time getting this on and off.

The material is super thick, which I really love. I'm that person who is cold in the middle of August.
But, it felt both revealing and matronly at the same time, if that's possible. I wish they had sized up on this one, maybe an extra inch here and there would have done the trick. But $65???

The next item is the Jack Rosen Jacket by BB Dakota in dark slate.

If you've been following my blog, I've been looking for the perfect military style or utility jacket. I ended up buying an anorak from Tilly's for $35 to tide me over.

This was the closest thing Dailylook had, but it really wasn't the style I was going for. It's too long, had no interesting detail, and the color was more blue green than army. And $70.

So I have to admit that so far everything I've shown you was stuff from "my closet", things I had found on the site and added to my profile. So technically, I wasn't really styled by anyone but myself.

Which brings me to this.

This made me laugh. I'm used to personal notes and references to my special requests and pins from my Stitch Fix stylist Traci, so this just fell flat. At least they could've taken the time to write, "here you go," or anything at all. But I think she was rushed because they were late getting my order out. This was supposed to arrive on April 11th and came on the 14th. Still.

Here's the one thing she sent me that she picked out herself, the embroidered chambray shirt.

I wish I had time to sew a gingham skirt to round this out for you, but I'm plum out of energy I reckon. Let's just say this isn't me. $55? No.

I'm not sure I'm ready to give up on Dailylook Elite Box just yet. I do get one more free month on my subscription. I also just realized they ship items free both ways for Elite Box members, so I may try just ordering some things.

I'd love to hear your input, or about your experiences with this subscription box.
If you'd like to try it for free, here's my referral link:

If you are looking for a more personalized service, I highly recommend Stitch Fix. I receive a small commission if you try it. I think you are gonna love it!

And, since you stuck around, I thought I'd share a few pictures I took of #4
while trying on the clothes.

Worth every bulge.

Lands End Review & Coupon February 2015

Online shopping can be really hit or miss. I've ordered probably 2 dozen items from Amazon and kept 5 or 6. It's tedious, finding what I'm looking for and determining the fit, all the while wondering about the quality.

I really wanted a new skirt to wear with a few tops I'd picked up from Golden Tote, Stitch Fix and Marshalls. And more dresses, because I need to dress up more.

Light bulb, Lands End has great staples! And if you go for the sale section, you can really get some good deals.

PLUS, they always have a coupon, and free shipping for orders over $50. I was able to pick up 5 items for around $100, and 4 out of 5 fit! That NEVER happens to me elsewhere.

If you decide to check it out be sure to use this link to get $25 off your purchase of $75 or more.

Here's what I picked up.

Women's Ponté Boatneck Flock Dress $40

I normally wear a 6 or an 8 in dresses, more on the 8 side since baby number 4. I ordered an 8 in the flocked dress and it fits perfectly. I always read the customer reviews before buying, to be sure items are true to size. I think it has a very flattering silhouette.

Women's Ponté Pencil Skirt $25 (Shown with Golden Tote Blouse)

I also ordered the pencil skirt in an 8. Both the dress and the skirt have a little stretch. Ponte is by far one of my favorite materials. I love the higher waist on this skirt, great for a pear shape.

Women's Knit Matte Jersey Skirt $20 (Shown with Golden Tote Blouse)

I ordered a small in the jersey skirt after reading the customer reviews. The waistband is a little tight but I think it'll stretch a little. This has a more casual feel than the pencil skirt. It also fit higher, on my natural waist. I think the shape is also flattering for my pear shape. I am having a hard time finding tops that work with it. Guess I'll have to order more tops! Tragic, really ;)

Lands End Women's Knit Matte Jersey Skirt $20 (Shown with Stitch Fix Sweater & Loft Blouse)

I think the skirt will work well with a variety of open cardigans, such as my Ezra Isaac from Stitch Fix. I would totally order this in navy too if they had it in my size. Darn it!

Women's Fit 2 Slim Leg Ponté Pants $35

I've tried on a lot of skinny pants without much luck. These Lands End pants are thicker and have a slightly more straight fit than leggings, making them more flattering on my thighs. It's really hard to get a good picture of pants, but I really like them and felt really comfortable in them. I ordered a small and they fit perfectly. I don't think I look anything like the model in them, and I'm okay with that. I'm not a stick figure!

Golden Tote Blouse & Loft Colored Bootleg Cords
In case you were wondering if I ever wear anything colorful, I threw this picture in. When I pulled these pants out of the closet I thought, "Oh yeah, this is what we wore before skinny jeans!" My daughter says they look like clown pants. I try not to argue with my photographer, since she works for free. Besides, these comments get more smiles out of me.

Lands End also has a great refer-a-friend program. Earn $20 for every friend you sign up!
