Stitch Fix Review #8 August 2015: Goodbye Summer, Hello Fall

Is it already time for my August Stitch Fix review?
Summer, you always come and go so fast! But fall, how I love you so.

Guess this means it's time to update my Stitch Fix style profile and Pinterest board for the transition to cooler weather. Hooray for sweater season!

Back to reality, the blazing hot reality.

For those of you who are new here, Stitch Fix is an online clothing subscription for women. Do you find it difficult to find the time to shop for clothes? Does your wardrobe need a makeover? Could you use a little help finding your personal style? Stitch Fix has your back!

Simply fill out a profile with your sizes, preferences, and a quick note letting them know what you are looking for and you'll be matched up with your very own personal stylist. He or she will mail you a box full of goodies to try on at home. Keep what you like and send the rest back in a prepaid envelope from your very own mailbox. Fill out a profile here.

This is my 8th fix. You can read about the rest here. I can't wait to show you what my personal stylist picked out just for me!

First up is the THML Christy Embroidered Top, straight from my Pinterest style board.
By now you probably know I'm obsessed with navy. And I've finally given in and admitted I like boho. This shirt is all that, and so many other things I love.

It's lightweight, hides the problem areas, can be worn with regular undergarments, and has fun detail.
$54 is more than I'd usually spend on a top, but the quality was there. This was my first top from THML, I love that Stitch Fix is introducing me to new brands!

This stitch reminds me of a baseball!

Unfortunately, the fit was a bit off at the shoulders, so I decided to return it. I already regret it, boo.

You may have also noticed the Kut from the Kloth Kate Distressed Boyfriend Jeans in the last picture, these were also in my box.

I really liked the fit, wash and style of these jeans, I'm a dark wash junky. Which is why I was so sad to send them back. The 8 was pretty baggy, but I was worried the 6 would be too short. I definitely would have paid $78 for these high quality jeans.

Here's another picture of the jeans with the Market & Spruce Austin Polka Dot & Striped Mixed Material Shirt for $44.

My daughter tried to steal this out of the box, but she's still a full size smaller than me. Sorry honey, someday you'll get your own fix!

Love the stripe & dot combination, as well as the blue and grey. Unfortunately, the combination of thin material and horizontal stripes were not a flattering combination for this mother of 4. Can you tell I wasn't into it? Lol.

However, it was most definitely everything I am asking for. Casual, easy to throw on with jeans, and has interesting detail.

Such was also the case with this Fun2Fun Newcomb Crochet Detail Top in purple for $44.

I think this top is a perfect combination of casual, romantic (feminine) and is a beautiful rich color.

I appreciate that it is conservative and goes well with jeans. Unfortunately sleeveless tops these days seem to be too far inset. Am I the only one who has a problem with this? I also don't care for the hi lo hem, to me it just emphasis my pear shape.

I wish I'd had my new dark wash jean jacket to style with these tops when my fix came in. I think it would be super cute, especially with the purple one. But it is truly hot here, and I see no relief in the near future, so this pretty top is off to a happier home.

My last item was this Fun2Fun Holsten Crochet Trim Blouse for $48.

Here's what my stylist had to say about this top:
"The Holsten crochet trim blouse is a great option to wear for your interview and can be worn with navy trousers or a skirt."

I love that they read my previous note and sent an item to pair with something I already own, and paid attention to my request for something to wear for this extraordinary interview opportunity!

I can't get enough of that adorable trim on the sleeves, and you know this is MY color.

I didn't realize how much floral I had on my Pinterest style board until I pulled this out of the box. Turns out this is WAY more floral than I can handle. Pinterest adjusted!

So it turns out I didn't keep anything from this fix, but don't worry. I did land the job :)

As you may have already guessed from last weeks spoiler, soon I'll be working for Stitch Fix, too! I am really excited about this opportunity to work from home doing something I love with a company I admire. And, get a discount on the clothes, too :)

Are you ready to try Stitch Fix? If you do, I'd love it if you used my referral! Here it is:

So, you may not see quite as many reveals. And no, I won't be spilling the beans about the behind the scenes. But I do plan to keep sharing my favorite Stitch Fix finds with you. And maybe, just maybe, I'll have some new tips for getting your best fix.

In the mean time, thanks for stopping by and have a splendiferous day!

Loft Sale and Clearance Spring 2015

In my facebook subscription box clothing groups we often joke about
"cheating on" Stitch Fix or whichever box.
A girl can't live on 5 pieces of clothes a month, right?

Oddly, we all seem to have the same taste and do quite a bit of shopping at Loft.
It's pretty hard to resist their high quality fabrics & construction, up-to-date styles, and impeccable fit
when they throw a flash sale on top of already reduced prices.

That's how I scored these items at ridiculously low prices.

Best of all, jeans.

Fortunately for me, I have a local Loft and can try things on, but I don't really need to.
I consistently wear the same sizes in tops and jeans.
And I'm a really big fan of their modern straight cut. I may end up with every style and wash.

These rip & repair coastal blue jeans have a distressed, boyfriend feel
but with a more flattering fit.

I don't normally wear blue with blue, but I threw this cuffed sleeve hi low top
on with the jeans in the fitting room and I felt like hitting the beach.

By the way, I live 5 miles from the beach and still never go there.
I'm sure you can tell by my pastiness.

By the way, I'd love to take more pictures of the items on, but it was spring break
when I wrote this and the only vacation I'm getting it not straightening my hair.

This sweater is coming across more blue than the minty green it really is.
I got a lot of compliments on this sweater in church. It's a really great layering piece. It's thin, but not sheer. It looks great with wide leg trousers, especially these.
Come on Loft, throw me another flash sale so I can have the complete outfit!

Loft is also a great place to stock up on well made jewelry.
I've had pieces from Loft that have lasted me at least 10 years.

Ordered these bracelets online, they were only $6.50-$7.50 a piece during the sale.

I was most excited about the druzy bracelets and the gold cuff,
but they didn't end up working for my tiny wrists.

Please make note though, that every single one of these bracelets is adjustable,
which I didn't realize when I ordered them. I love that!

That cute ikat is the ikat dot pocket blouse.
Wish it would've worked for me but it was just too darn long. Drats.

Of course, the underdogs were the winners in my order.
Wear this gold knot cuff with everything.

This was the first thing I wore out of the box. Goes with anything and everything.

The picture on the Loft website doesn't do this one justice.
It's super cute and I don't even notice I have it on.

I'm still waiting on one more pair of jeans.
They ship almost everything separately, but it makes no difference to me.
Shipping was free.

Just saw this new in the store, it WILL be mine. For the right price.

What are you waiting to buy during the next Loft flash sale?
By the way, the only way to get in the know about these sales is by signing up for emails, so don't forget to do that.

Have a peachy keen day!

Beat the Winter Blues: Stock up & Save on Staples

It feels like summer in southern California, so it seems kind of funny buying winter jackets and scarves. But you can't beat the prices. As long as you stick to classic styles and neutral fabrics, they won't go out of style. And I think I found some things that will work for cool spring nights as well. I think navy blue is a great color for the transition.

I just picked up this navy Larry Levine lightweight quilted jacket on Amazon. I wanted something that would keep me warm without weighing me down and this one is perfect. I like that the hood is removable. I was worried that the quilting might make me look bigger, but the quilting is small and the seams flattering.

I also picked up this cozy marled infinity scarf from the Loft final sale rack. $13, score! I love the complexity of the colors, and it will dress up my plain black tops. Unfortunately it's no longer available online.

I got this 100% cotton colorblock softened shirt from Loft, too. I'd been looking for a chambray or denim shirt for quite some time, but couldn't find one that worked with my jeans and fit properly. At $15 I couldn't resist!

I can't wait to wear this Julian Taylor Textured Knit Fit and Flare Dress. If you don't have Amazon Prime I highly recommend it. I use it for my business, but I also love the free 2 day shipping and free returns and exchanges on just about everything.

Julian Taylor Dress
I almost ordered the petite, but the 6 fit just right. If you are between sizes order down. It also comes in plus sizes. The dress has a kind of funky zipper up the back, which you can see by watching the 360 degree video on Amazon, another great reason to try Amazon.

This isn't a heavy ponte type material like I was anticipating, but it has structure and give. Just not quite as soft. It has a waffle texture. I love the modest neckline and length, I know I'll wear it because I don't have to worry about these things.

And for the warmer days I bought this light rayon tunic by Grand & Greene at Marshalls for $17, as seen here with my favorite "accessory", and the reason for my new wardrobe :)
